Ditch the plastic, make Helston fantastic!

As you may have seen on ITV Westcountry, we are backing the campaign to ditch plastic carrier bags from Helston. Following the example set by Modbury, the campaign is aiming to persuade all traders in Helston to discontinue use of plastic carrier bags, due to their huge impact on the environment. At Barefoot Island, we have never used plastic carrier bags, and our brown paper carriers have proved to be stylish and popular amongst shoppers. It's time to do your bit too: Reduce, Re-use & Recycle!

Donny has landed!

Men's Sanuk Sidewalk Surfers are in store and online now! We have blue "Donny"s and brown cracked leather "Cruiser"s.  

The Return of Sanuk!

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the women's Sanuk flip flops & Sidewalk Surfers, we are now awaiting the arrival of some men's Sidewalk Surfers... due in any day now! They will go into our online shop as soon as we get them.   

We're live!

Our online shop opened on Sunday 1st July 2007, and the very first order through was for an Endless Summer board towel (Thanks go to Mrs Pollicott!).

Sponsorship!  

We have just taken on our first sponsored bodyboarder! Steve Atkinson is an up-and-coming bodyboarder, and is keen to progress in the sport. The amount of sponsorship that we can offer in these early days of trading is limited, but Steve has the right attitude and bags of enthusiasm so we want to help him progress as far as we can. You should include: a brief history of your board-riding, competitions you have entered, aspirations (both in and outside the sport), what type of sponsorship you would like, and why you want sponsorship. Please remember that opportunities for sponsorship are very limited, so not all applicants will be successful.

 Wednesday 20th June 2007 

Since my last posting, we have been very very busy. Gul clothing has gone down a storm and we have sold out of some lines. We now have a Dodgy Gear range in, which has also been tremendously popular. We uprooted and took the shop with us the the Helston Motor Show on Father's Day, where we saw loads of our "regulars" and met lots of new people.

And, possibly the most exciting news, is that we are working on our online shop. We are aiming to go live and start taking orders at the start of July! There should be plenty of things to browse (over 110 items are already done) and the shop should be fully-fledged by the end of July. But don't forget to pop into our shop in Helston if you are in Cornwall, as we will have things in store that are not online.
